AGGRAVATED ASSAULT/DUI
A woman who stated she was
homeless was arrested for aggravated assault
on police and DUI on September 1st. at 8:40 p.m.. An off-duty Detective
observed the woman operating her vehicle very slowly on N.Swarthmore Ave.,
he further observed her cross the double yellow lines several times. He
called for a Ridley Park officer and the woman was stopped just over the
Ridley Park/Ridley Township border. While speaking with the offender, she
threw a cup of hot coffee on the Detective. She was arrested by Officer
Steven Corsi.
UNDERAGE DRINKING
Nine juveniles were charged with
underage drinking on September 2nd. at
3:05 a.m.. Police were detailed to a private home in the unit block of
N.Swarthmore Ave. for a vandalism complaint from a neighbor. While
investigating the complaint, officers found the underage party. All subjects
were cited and turned over to parents.
DUI
A 52 year old Lester man was
charged with DUI after an accident on
September 4th. at 7:25 p.m.. Corporal Jim Nasella and Officer Ted Woolery
responded to the crash in the 400 block of N.Swarthmore Ave.. When officers
began to question the driver, Samuel Empson from the 300 block of Mohican,
they detected a strong odor of alcohol. He was staggering and had slurred
speech. The vehicle he was operating had a ignition interlock system. He
was transported to Taylor Hospital for blood test.
WARRANT
A 31 year old Clifton Heights
man was arrested on an outstanding warrant
out of Philadelphia. Corporal Mark Bascelli responded to a radio call on
September 6th. at 8:30 a.m. in the 200 block of Dupont Street. The caller
stated that a man was sleeping on his porch. Upon arrival, police found Paul
Malatesta, from the unit block of Baltimore Pike on the front porch of the
residence. A check for warrants found him to be wanted out of Philadelphia. He
was transported to
Ridley Park Headquarters, then turned over to Philadelphia Police.
MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH
A 36 year old Harrisburg man was
injured in a two vehicle crash on
Chester Pike at Acres Drive. Police were dispatched at 8:23 p.m. on
September 13th.. Upon arrival they found both vehicles with severe damage.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. The injured man was
transported to Taylor Hospital.
MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH
Christopher David Catrambone, 26
from Clifton Heights was arrested for
DUI and assault. The incident began in the 300 block of E.Ridley Ave. at
3:57 a.m. on the 14th. of September. Catrambone crashed his car into a
utility pole. He then fled, east on E.Ridley Ave.. Officers were able to follow
a
trail of evidence and the subject was arrested near Interboro High School
in Prospect Park. Before being arrested he assaulted a 43 year old Norwood
man, who attempted to help police by detaining the suspect. He was released
on $5,000 unsecured bail by Judge Jack D. Lippart.
THEFT FROM VEHICLES
Several cars were entered and
numerous items removed over night on Thursday
September 13th and into Friday the 14th. The cars were on E.Rodgers Street and
Hillside Road. All vehicles were unlocked. Ridley Twp. Police took numerous
subjects into custody for thefts in there jurisdictions. Rildey Park Police will
be filing charges on the subjects as well.
FALSE IDENTIFICATION/WARRANT
A 26 year old Tinicum Twp. man
was arrested for false identification to
law enforcement and also was found to have an outstanding bench warrant for his
arrest. Officer Robert Quinlan was dispatched to the area of Hinkson Blvd. and
Comerford Ave. on September 14th. at 1:05 p.m.. While checking the area he came
upon David Blythe, from the 300 block of Seminole Street in Lester. He advised
Officer Quinlan that he was a college student trying to make money cutting
grass. A check on the name he gave
police showed no record found. Tinicum Township police provided Quinlan with
his correct name, and a check found that he was wanted on a Delaware County
Bench warrant. He was transported to Ridley Park Headquarters and turned
over to Delaware County Sheriffs.
DUI/WARRANT
A 44 year
old Philadelphia man was taken into custody after a vehicle
stop. Officer Ian Cleghorn was on routine patrol on September 29th. at 10:00
p.m. when he observed Michael Jenkins, from the 1400 block of Conlyn Street
fail to stop for a stop sign. Upon further investigation it was determined
that Jenkins was under the influence of alcohol. A check with the computer,
found that Jenkins was wanted out of Philadelphia. He was taken into custody
and transported to Ridley Park Headquarters and then turned over to
Philadelphia Police.
